Add potting mix.
Choose a fertile, well-draining mix. Avoid soil that stays waterlogged.
Plant your banana.
Carefully remove the nursery pot and position the plant at its original planting depth. Fill around the roots and gently firm the mix.

Let excess water drain away. Keep the soil moist during active growth without leaving the pot standing in water.

Be realistic about fruit.
Large leaves develop before flowering and fruiting. Producing bananas requires sustained warmth, sunlight, space, and time. Indoor plants may never produce fruit.
